"It is because we are what we repeatedly exercise, that makes us what we are. Excellence then, is not an act but a habit". "I think I was born with a pencil in my hand, I 've been drawing people and things, for as long as I can remember." Cortez graduated from Du sable High School and Benedictine University. Cortez studied art at Wilbur Force University and the College of Du page and from 1974 through 2001 he devoted 27 years doing engineering designing projects for a local electric utility company. His fine paintings, sketches and finished works demonstrates his uniquely developed brush technique and expert artistic style with an proficiency and confidence in his chosen mediums, that exhibits a masterful creative genius is at work. Since starting his professional art career in 2002, Cortez the artist has emerged as a powerful force in, digital design art, and self publishing of his art work.
